Clifton Heights Directory 2025
16 2025 | Clifton Heights-Clayton-Tamm Community Directory Hi-Pointe Homeowners Association Meetings: 7 pm on 2nd Thursday of March, April, May, Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec. St. James the Greater Catholic Church Rectory 6401 Wade Ave. President: JoAnn Berger Vice President: Mitchell Bowers | bowerssamuel504@gmail.com | 314-240-5903 Boundaries: Clayton and Oakland avenues on the north, Dale Avenue on the south, Louisville Avenue on the east and the city limits on the west. History: As its name implies, the Hi Pointe neighborhood sits on one of the highest elevations in the city. The neighborhood’s history over the last 100 years includes farming, clay mining, firebrick and tile manufacturing, and a small airport landing field. Small, abandoned clay mines can still be found in some backyards. Because of its location on the western edge of the city, the neighborhood has not been settled for as long as neighborhoods to the east. The 1904 World’s Fair did much to promote this area and brought more residents. It is said that some buildings in Hi- Pointe are made from building materials left over from the Fair. Hi-Pointe is one of several neighborhoods that make up Dogtown. Although this name is well-known and recognized throughout the region, many residents prefer the name Hi-Pointe.
