A social, hosted by a member in their home or by a neighborhood business, follows the meeting. Socials are a great way to mingle, relax and enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere. To become a member of the SRG, join at a general membership meeting, online at soulard.org, or send a letter to the address listed above with your name, address, phone number, and email address. Please bring or send the amount for the appropriate membership level (below) with your request to join. Dues are tax deductible and may qualify the SRG for matching funds from your employer. Please ask if there is a corporate matching program where you work. SRG Membership Levels: Senior over 65 – one voting member............................................................................................................... $1 Resident/Property Owner – one voting member, resident, or property owner.............................................. $20 Household – two voting members residing in the same Soulard household..................................................... $30 Business – non-voting level for Soulard neighborhood businesses.................................................................... $30 Friend of Soulard – non-voting level for non-residents................................................................................. $20 Members may participate in fun-filled social activities such as pub crawls, bike rides, baseball games and more.They may volunteer to assist in neighborhood fundraisers such as our Holiday Parlour Tour, Mardi Gras, Smarty Gras Trivia Night, Oktoberfest at Soulard Market and other events which benefit the community. Members can also become more active by working with any of the various SRG committees or becoming a part of the leadership as a committee chairperson or a member of the Board of Directors. The SRG committees are: • Beautification • Communication • Community Involvement & Events • Development • Historical • Membership • Plan ReviewTeam (aka Code & Zoning) • Safety • Parlour Tour • Properties/Soulard Station BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE Committee Chair – Jeff Weitzel | Liaison Director – Wade Weistreich The Beautification Committee consists of a group of SRG volunteers, who by their involvement through plantings and maintenance of public parks, promote community involvement that results in a beautiful, safe and cared- for neighborhood. Each season, green thumbs and green-thumb “wannabes” gear up to maintain the following gardens: 9th & Sidney Triangle, Soulard Market Park Celebration Garden, Soulard Station Garden,Aboussie Park, and the gardens at Pontiac Square Park.The committee also provides and plants potted containers throughout the neighborhood and works with additional resident and business volunteers to maintain them.They also collaborate with Brightside St. Louis on projects. Other committee efforts include fundraisers, tours, and award programs.
