St. Louis Hills Directory 2024

4 2024 | St. Louis Hills Community Directory Welcome to St. Louis Hills! Cyrus Crane Willmore built his first display home in St. Louis Hills at 6226 Itaska two months after the stock market crash of 1929. Despite the economy and the onset of the Great Depression, more than 10,000 people attended the grand opening, including Harry S Truman, who was campaigning for the U.S. Senate at the time. Two thousand roses were placed on all front lawns and one thousand irises were planted in Francis Park. A 35-foot lot sold for $2,100. The growing St. Louis Hills development was enriched with clubs, activities, and committees. A spark which showed itself in simple cooperative neighborhood efforts each day offered opportunities as a part of keeping home. Some 95 years later, this spark continues within St. Louis Hills. It continues to be a vibrant and safe community for a variety of reasons, which include its central location and proximity to major highways. Key to our neighborhood is the St. Louis Hills Neighborhood Association. For 75 years, since its founding in 1949, the St. Louis Hills Neighborhood Association has been a vital part of our community. Through our events and partner organizations, high volunteer and resident commitment, St. Louis Hills has continued to be strong and one of the most desirable family- and friend-oriented communities in St. Louis. St. Louis Hills boasts eight churches, nine schools, two historic parks—Francis Park with its David R. Francis Statue, and (Cyrus Crane) Willmore Park—a St. Louis Public Library (Buder Branch), and many restaurants and businesses. Various programs and events are made possible during the year: Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Tree Lighting, Tour De Francis Park - Gateway Cup, House Tour, Lawn & Garden contest, Christmas Lighting contest, and Scholarship awards. We also partner with 501(c)3 organizations on events such as Friends of Francis Park - Run for the Hills, Grub & Groove, and Art in the Park. We would like to personally share a THANK YOU to all volunteers, residents, and partner organizations who continue to strengthen and grow our community! This directory is made possible through our partnership with STL Programs and is funded through the local business advertising you see in these pages. Support local businesses! Welcome!
