Barbara C. Jordan, Flynn Park, Jackson Park and Pershing , the District’s four neighborhood elementary schools, serve students from kindergarten through grade 5. Core subjects are supplemented by art, dance, music, physical education and resources provided through programs such as Talented And Gifted Development, English Language Learners and the Special School District of St. Louis County. Julia Goldstein Early Childhood Education Center partners with families to provide developmentally appropriate practices that encourage social emotional, intellectual and physical growth. University City Adult Education and Literacy Program offers free classes for area adults seeking support for High School Equivalency classes to prepare for the HISET exam (formerly GED) as well as English as a second language, literacy and citizenship. With approximately 2,700 students enrolled in PreK, U. City Schools offers a broad selection of competitive athletic teams, clubs, arts performances and other activities at all levels.
