Some of the uses for Community Notification have been burglaries in a residential area, reminders to lock your vehicles when we have had thefts from vehicles, Public Works updates during mill and overlay season and road closure information. To register on the city of Crestwood’s Self Registration Portal go to www.cityofcrestwood.org and select Government/Police/ Community Notification VACATION WATCH Going out of town? The Crestwood Police Department offers a service to residents that while on vacation, a police officer will stop by and check on your house to make sure that your property and home are secure. If things look out of place, officers will contact your designated emergency contact. Vacation Watch criteria: • Home must be unoccupied and no one else is checking the residence • No one may be staying in the residence during this time • No one is entering residence to feed or water animals • Resident will be gone for more than three days If you are leaving town for three days or more, please complete the Vacation Watch Online Form on the city website and select Government/Police/Residential Services/Vacation Watch or call the Crestwood Police Department at 729-4800 FIRE DEPARTMENT Fire Chief Lou Hecht Non-emergency 729-4740 or 729-4744 Each year the department conducts approximately 1,000 fire inspections at all businesses, churches, and schools. In April, the department tests a total of 344 public fire hydrants located within the city. Hydrants are tested for proper operation and any physical obstructions in the use of the hydrant. Other services: • Residential fire safety inspections are conducted at the request of the home owner • Free Blood Pressure readings are conducted at the Fire House • Department members install a free smoke detector for senior citizens and the disabled who qualify, and come back each year to change the battery during “Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery” program
