Crestwood Sunset Hills Directory 2021

22 2021 | Crestwood - Sunset Hills Community Directory Parks and Recreation Opportunities for relaxation and fun are plentiful in the area. Sunset Hills has more than 300 acres of park ground and maintains six recreational areas for the enjoyment of its residents. The city’s largest recreational area, Watson Trail Park, is located on West Watson Road, just west of South Lindbergh Boulevard. This park mixes just the right blend of undisturbed natural beauty and open, passive areas for everyone to enjoy. Tennis and volleyball courts, an Aquatic Facility, nature trails, playgrounds, and picnic shelters are all located here. Minnie HaHa Park, which opened in 2005, overlooks bluffs of the Meramec River. Minnie HaHa offers nature lovers walking trails, an observation deck, soccer fields and picnic areas. Thanks to two generous donors, in 2019 and 2020, the city opened the Bander Park Golf Center and the Stieren Reflection Area that includes playground equipment, walking trails, shelter area and artwork at 13550 and 13553 W. Watson Rd. The city of Crestwood has more than 115 acres dedicated to six parks, the largest of which is Whitecliff Park. In 1971 the Crestwood Board of Alderman realized that an old abandoned quarry adjacent to a small eight-acre park was a treasure to preserve. That quarry is now part of the 85-acre Whitecliff Park. The city has been very careful to preserve 40 wooded acres of the park to provide a passive oasis in the midst of a bustling community of both neighborhoods and thriving retail areas. Whitecliff offers the Crestwood Community Center, a 22,000-square-foot facility that includes a gymnasium, fitness room, meeting rooms, dance gym, racquetball courts, and administrative offices. Whitecliff Park is also where the Crestwood Aquatic Center is located. The center includes a large lap pool, lazy river, a children’s play pool and other play areas. Both cities offer residents a vast selection of recreational and fitness programs to fit many different needs. Whether looking for intense exercise, vigorous recreation, or a simple walk in the park, visitors and residents alike can find it in the Crestwood – Sunset Hills Area.
