(314) 768-6260 Community Connections When I left corporate America at the end of 2015 and moved to an outside sales position, it was an eye opener. I also had just moved to Kirkwood a year prior so a new career and relatively new community. I realized I needed to meet a lot more people, so I decided to join my local chamber in 2016, the Kirkwood Des Peres Area Chamber. I did this so I could get involved and meet people in my community. In the seven years I have been a member, I built a large enough network and gained enough knowledge to open my own business. The Chamber and its members have been a big part of my success. It was not just because I had networking opportunities to meet a lot of new local people and decision makers. I have also developed valued friendships that are not just a big part of my social life, but also some of my biggest cheerleaders and advocates in the community. I have also been able to find mentors that have been huge assets to the growth of my business. Running your own small business is nothing like running my corporate America business where roles are clearly defined in most cases and your responsibilities are focused on those roles. These mentors I have met through the Chamber have been instrumental in helping mold my mindset and helped with skill gaps to help build my business. I highly recommend giving the Chamber a shot and while you are there, being as involved as possible to get the best results personally and professionally.
