The Jury Process The jury is composed of a distinguished panel of professional art experts with diverse backgrounds. A total of five jurors and the Executive Director of Cultural Festivals comprise the panel that selects the show’s participants from those submitting entries. We thank this year’s panel for their tireless work and dedication to the integrity of the show. 2023 Jurors Ken Konchel is a photographer specializing in capturing abstract architectural images utilizing traditional equipment and silver gelatin printing. He’s won 75 awards in juried exhibitions and art fairs and has juried in 200 exhibitions across the country. Ken received a commission for the Lambert Art and Culture Program from the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and a published 2014 monograph of his images, titled Architectonic, is in the collection of the Library of Congress. Ken’s photography has been included in the books St. Louis Seen and Unseen, St. Louis: Landmarks & Historic Districts, and St. Louis for the Record. Ellen Gale currently serves as Executive Director of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. Ellen worked previously as one of the founding directors of the Saint Louis Art Fair and the U.S. Bank St. Louis Jazz Festival, has been an assistant to U.S. Senator John C. Danforth, served on the boards of Art St. Louis as vice president, the Sheldon Concert Hall’s Friends Board, and the Board of Cultural Festivals. She is a graduate of Focus St. Louis’ Leadership, has served as a Citizen Panelist for the Regional Arts Commission, and was a mentor for the Masters in Arts Management Program at Webster University. She was part of the Mayor’s Arts Advisory Commission for six years. Dr. Chajuana Trawick works at Lindenwood University and currently serves as an Associate Professor, Program Coordinator, and Endowed Chair of the Fashion Business & Design Program. Dr. Trawick is the first woman and person of color to receive an Endowed Chair position in the history of Lindenwood University. Dr. Trawick developed the Fashion and Business Design’s first study abroad programs and to date, has led national and international study tours to multiple locations including France, London, Japan, New York, and Las Vegas. 2023 JURORS Susan Elnora | Booth #408 Susan is an award-winning, Santa Fe-based jewelry artist whose work has received awards from numerous juried art shows nationwide. After studying Studio Art at Carleton College, Susan trained as a metalsmith at Revere Academy in San Francisco and apprenticed with master jeweler, Stephen Vincent, in Minneapolis. Her work is influenced by her love of animals, literature, music, and American mythology. Susan lives in the mountains of New Mexico which inspire her work. Jay McDougall | Booth #407 Jay is a contemporary wood sculptor living in Fergus Falls, MN. Jay studied Wood Technology and Design at the University of Wisconsin - Stout. He began his career in 1982 as an independent furniture designer/builder and has been a contributing writer to Fine Woodworking and a regional Lake and Home publication. McDougall has been recognized with numerous awards and has received a McKnight Foundation Fellowship. He is an advocate for independent artists and serves as an Emerging Artist Mentor in both his local and national art show communities. 2023 Peer Jurors 38
