The covered outdoor dining area is defined by a brick wall with an outdoor fireplace. Cut flagstone was used to create a bench along the wall, and John and Pat used grey slate left by Stamm to finish the seating. A graceful curved garden creates an outdoor brick patio area that’s open, but also private. Other improvements include the addition of solar panels, new windows and hickory hardwood floors. The home’s primary bedroom was updated with frosted glass closet doors, which are the same for hall storage. The bath is a well-preserved example of midcentury pink and grey, along with a square pink garden tub. The home has two additional bedrooms and a new powder room. Many midcentury homes were split level. Up a short flight of stairs is a cozy den with knotty pine paneling and dentil crown molding. An attic fan – which tour members may or may not see – is the size of a small aircraft engine. It is one of the tucked-away delights of this warm, comfortable home.
