22 • St. Louis Hills House Tour • 2023 6000 Highfield Matt and Ann Curry were drawn to 6000 Highfield by the St. Louis Hills’ location and the beauty of the lot. Their vision for what the house could become, along with some hard work, turned their 1950s home into a welcoming gathering spot. New custom driveway and sidewalks were first on the list of improvements, which lead to a fresh front porch. A lovely trellis made by a dear friend provides just a bit of privacy upon going to the back yard. The patio wall was rebuilt using the original light fixtures, with updated wiring. The addition of an outdoor kitchen makes entertaining outdoors easier to be with guests. A second custom patio was later added to create even more space to gather for meals and celebrations. Ann uses the same patio furniture she grew up with because it fits perfectly with the style of the house. Recent exterior work includes new exterior stucco dormers and copper guttering, giving their home the special touch the metal adds. The custom front door and front room picture window are some of the personal touches abundant throughout the home. Ann said they changed the floor plan to open up the living room by removing a pantry between the kitchen and the front of the house. The result is the ability to navigate between spaces more
