When John and Kim Heitert found it in 2015, they knew the dwelling needed work, but they saw the potential, and had a vision for what the house could become. “I fell in love with the front porch and balcony at first sight” said Kim. John, on the other hand, saw the park that he grew up in and getting the home was a done deal. “John grew up in SOHA and St Louis Hills. It was always our dream to live here.” added Kim. Work started with tuck pointing the stone foundation and front porch. Using Pebbletex, the front porch was resurfaced to prevent slipping. Window frames were painted white. Trimlights were added to the front of the house. Mexican river rock provides a contrast for colorful Mexican pots overflowing with flowers. Inside, the stained glass windows and curved ceilings were icing on the cake for Kim. “When I walked upstairs, with the tall ceilings on the second floor and all the square footage, I knewwe had to get this house. This is our forever home and we’ve worked endlessly to get it where it is today,” said Kim. continued on page 32
