in specific projects to help upgrade the lifestyle of our fellow men, and the
encouragement of our people to participate personally in social projects of
their choice. We look on corporate responsibility as a way of life rather than a
segmented activity.”

The program is aimed
at low income families
where in many cases the
parents’ involvement in
their child’s education is
hampered because of attention
to more immediate family needs.
The program is designed to help
develop and maintain parents’
involvement in their children’s
education.
Every Tuesday and Thursday
evening approximately 40
parents and children assemble
at long tables in a community
center classroom in St. Louis.
After attendance is taken,
instructors explain the game for
the evening. Parent and child
play the games, exchanging
partners until everyone has
played with a different person.
Instructors oversee the activities
and assist the two-member teams
when necessary.
What sounds like a
recreational session for parents
and their children is really a
unique program which began in
January. It’s probably the only
program of its kind in the country
which allows parents to teach
their own children on a one-to-
one in a classroom. The games
