By
1914, the Syrian population of the
neighborhood had grown to be of
such significance to warrant special
programming by Kingdom House. It is
during this period that the neighborhood
transitions from a majority native born
population to that of increasing numbers
of immigrant families.
In 1910, the management of
Kingdom House was split into two
departments – the department of
worship and the social service
department. The former became
in charge of a conference
appointed pastor. The Women’s
Board of City Missions worked
in conjunction with the resident
deaconess in charge, as well
as assistants appointed by the
Women’s Board. The Board of
Control obtained control of the
property and work of Kingdom
