contributions of money. Money contributed
will be placed in a training fund at
Kingdom House which will be used to send
delinquents to trade school. It would be
loaned to the individual on an interest free
loan. Once the individual had completed his
training, he would return the money to the
fund on an installment plan.
Plan 2. Delinquent Adoption Program:
Under this plan, an individual or group
would adopt a delinquent. They would
assume the responsibility of finding him
a part or full-time job as needed and also
for providing him with the funds necessary
to go to a trade school. Trade school
cost[s] approximately $600.00. Kingdom
House would assume the responsibility for
selecting a candidate and presenting this
candidate to the group. If approved by the
group, Kingdom House would then act
as liason [sic] between the group and the
boy. Periodic reports would be submitted
to the group of the boys [sic] successes,
progress and failures. The adoption would
be terminated when the boy either failed
or finished his technical training and
obtained a full time job. Money loaned to
the delinquent would be returned by him on
an installment basis to the Kingdom House
training fund in order that another boy
might benefit from it.
If you are personally interested or if you
feel that a group to which you belong might
be feel free to call Kingdom House for more
specific information. Our number is GA.1-
0400. Ask for Joe Rulo if interested in the
delinquency program.
CHILDREN AND TWEEN AGE
PROGRAM FOR 1962-63
The age range from 5-13 years involves
two facets of our total program. Ages 5-10
we designate ‘children,’ from 11-13, we call
‘Tweenage.’ (these are boys and girls who
tend to be too advanced for the children’s
program and not advanced enough for
teen program). That is done so as to place
our program on a ‘steptual basis’ for
more defined work. This age range is not
established rigidly, because many of our
organizations, activities, etc., are formed
from natural groupings encompassing many
ethnic factors. To be sure Kingdom House’s
selection district makes it so that many
of our groups formed tend to be racially
based. Ostensibly, this reflects the lack of
propinquity that tends to be desirable. There
are a number of reasons for this which are
trite, to say the least, nevertheless, it is
significant to state that this seems to stem
from individual reference groups, per se.
At present we have in our ‘Children and
Tween Age’ programs a total of 11 club
programs, group work based and 11 group
service programs with emphasis on potential
and kinetic activities.
Long Range Goals and Objectives for
Children and Tween Age Program:
1. To develop interest in Kingdom
House and its total worth to the
neighborhood.
2.To pave the way, by using a
preventative, steptual approach, to an
alleviation of Juvenile Delinquency in
the neighborhood.
3. To develop a positive communication
system on an intergroup basis
throughout the agency.
4. To bring each club or activity into
a stable organization that would
eventually allow the development of
an agency council with representatives
from all groups.
Short Range Goals:
1. To give each individual member a
satisfying group experience that
will enhance its total maturation
perspective.
2. To develop a sense of group cohesion
among group members and groups.
3. To work in conjunction with other
neighborhood and city-wide agencies
in providing immediate facilities for
group interaction.
4. To give to many of the group members
a ‘first chance’ to interact positively in
a bi-racial setting.
5. To involve all individual members in
group planning, decision making for
enhancement of group and individual
responsibility.
6. Last, but not least, to have fun with a
purpose.
