1963 Kingdom House Association

Annual Dinner Meeting at Vinita Park

Methodist Church showed a vibrant and

thriving organization:

The beehive of activities moves from

season to season with little abatement. New

workers come to the staff to fill vacancies

Huguette Aine’s [Executive Director of a

settlement house in Paris] visit from Paris,

France leaves pleasant memories for many...

Field work students from the Social Work

School complete their year and new students

come in...

Employment – the lack of it – a real item

of concern; Missouri State Employment

Service for Youth occupy our building

to seek out summer jobs; other youths

cooperate to almost completely redecorate

and remodel our building. But all is not

work – family picnics and outings, a real

‘first’ as our integrated group enjoys a day

on the Admiral.

Teen age girls as well as adults join

in the experience of Charm Classes and

Fashion Show and the Variety Show allows

all age groups to participate.

Peace Corps

trainees prepare for

Honduras and observe

Kingdom House in

action; visitors from

Indonesia, Pakhistan

[sic], Puerto

Rico – busloads of

Missionary Tour

members see us in

action.

Interest runs high

in the neighborhood

over prospects of the

new park on 12th Street –

how can we speed up the process? What can

the Chouteau-Russell Interagency Group do

to help.

What about families in need? Clothing,

food, bedding, milk for babies, layettes for

infants – May we register here for Surplus

Commodity foods? What is the real scoop on

the Food Stamp Plan?

Highlights – bright lights – Richard

Aukema joins the staff and The Church of the

Master moves into reality. Joe Rulo returns

to the staff and the Teen programs take on

new dimensions. The Christmas Gift shop

and special programs bring joy and hope

of the season into dark and lonely corners.

Intensive work by staff members helps to

restore faith, and a realization that someone

does care. Hope continues – hope for a job,

hope for a better neighborhood, hope for an

active congregation, hope for a new building

– all because love has been demonstrated in

action; the arm of the church which brings

compassion to these multitudes is a witness

to the love which motivates and guides the

work of the Kingdom.
