‘Golden Agers,’ which meets on Wednesday
and offers social fellowship, crafts and
recreation for about 75 older citizens of the
neighborhood.
TWO BUILDINGS
The settlement operates in two buildings,
formerly private residences during the days
the neighborhood was an elegant section
of the city. The cemented playground area
between the buildings, which provides a
place for year-round ‘court
games’ as well as being the only
available roller skating ‘rink’
is securely fenced in from city
traffic.
An unduplicated number of
persons estimated at 1000, last
year enjoyed the multiple-interest
program, which places much
emphasis on the development of
the young people.
A variety of groups geared to
the different ages and interests
of the members includes sewing,
cooking and woodworking.
In the teen-age program, the
youngsters are often typically
found near the record player or
the soda machine. Responsibility,
however, is assumed by the young
people.
