in full swing, the next large migration

of rural workers poured into the city

to work in defense industries that

previously, because of their skin color,

had denied them jobs.

Nearly a decade later, the 50th

Anniversary publication indicated:

…Housing is [still] one of the great

needs of our neighborhood families. As

one of the sponsoring organizations of the

recent Institute on Housing at Washington

University, we are continuing our work in

the community to help alleviate one area

of distress. Through our relationship with
